Louis joined the SOUND Lab in May 2022 as PhD student under the supervision of Debi Vickers, in collaboration with Lorenzo Picinali from the Imperial College of London and Kathleen Faulkner from the Oticon company.
Louis is a third-year PhD student in the SOUND Lab whose research focuses on better understanding the effect of individual factors on speech and music perception. Louis also aim to find solutions to improve perception in these listening situations, notably using vibrotactile stimuli.
Louis works on how music can be used to assess distortions in Cochlear Implant processing. Specifically, he develops new testing procedures using music-reengineering to detect monaural and binaural mismatches as well as poor electrode neuron interface in CIs.
Louis did his audiologist’s degree at the University of Lorraine (Nancy, France) and his master’s degree in neuro-prosthetics at the University of Montpellier (Montpellier, France).
His clinical and research experience have led him to develop a huge interest of the brain mechanisms underlaying the hearing loss rehabilitation, and how these cognitive markers can be used to improve the quality of life of hearing impaired.
