Dr Nicholas Haywood is a Research Associate in the SOUND Lab, whose research focusses on developing measures of cochlear implant performance. The aim of this work is to better understand how information is conveyed by different electrodes of the implant array for a given individual. Such information would allow, for example, poorly performing electrodes to be identified. To this end, Nick’s experiments explore 1) sensitivity to amplitude modulation cues, and 2) the ability to hear auditory steam segregation. Nick primarily uses behavioural measures of perception, but also works with EEG and ECAP measures.
