Dr Wiebke Lamping is a Hearing Technology and Audiological Engineer. Her research interests include combining electrophysiological and behavioural measures to optimise cochlear implant (CI) fitting, focusing especially on pitch and envelope processing. Her current research focus is on determining how speech-envelope processing relates to speech-in-noise perception in ageing, hearing impairment and for CI listeners.
Wiebke received a B.Eng in Hearing Technology and Audiology (Oldenburg, Germany) and an MSc and PhD from the Technical University of Denmark (Copenhagen, Denmark). Her PhD was in ‘Improving CI performance through psychophysical measures’ and was awarded in December 2019.
Wiebke is also exploring new approaches for signal processing strategies in CI users. This is a joint collaboration between the SOUND Lab and the MRC Cognition and Brain Science Unit (Bob Carlyon and Tobias Goehring).
