
Dr Sheila Flanagan is a developmental auditory neuroscientist with a multi-disciplinary background. She has extensive experience in researching the development of human auditory processing and its relationship to language and literacy development. Sheila has a wealth of experience in electronic engineering, infra-red thermal imaging, neuroimaging, acoustics, psychoacoustics and psychology. Her prior projects have included brain imaging (MEG/EEG), behavioural, psycho-acoustic, and signal processing methods. Sheila has experience in working with all age groups, from infants to elderly. Participant groups of interest have included: dyslexic and typically developing readers; mild-moderate hearing impairment, and auditory processing disorder.
In the SOUND lab, Sheila is exploring objective measures of the development of speech and language ability in hearing device users.
Sheila is a Bye-Fellow and Director of Studies in Psychological and Behavioural Science at Selwyn College, Cambridge.
